I visited Mackinac Island in 1982 while stationed at K. I. Sawyer AFB. It was only a day trip, but the beauty of your area, unspoiled by automobile traffic, left me wanting more! I think this is why my favorite movie is "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour!! Since I can't visit Mackinac Island in person right now, I've added this website under "favorites" so I can visit you virtually any time I want!!

I went to Mackinac Island when I was about 6 years old. I'm now 18 but I can still remember everything we did there. It was great. I can't wait to go again.

I have visited this website many times- love viewing the pictures that bring back such good memories, but just noticed the guestbook this evening..thank you for making it avaiable. I've told so many about thise website and encouraged them to visit to get a feel for the Island's special beauty and serenity. I grew up on Mackinac, lived there well over 25 years and I love the fact that my family has a place in the Island's history. I enjoy telling all of the unique lifestyle and the safe and wonderful environment we were raised in, not to mention our daily airplane commute in the winter to the mainland for high school..yes I'm showing my age! I miss those special times so much, but am so appreciative that I lived there and know what true quality of life is about. Best wishes to all my friends. Dee

I grew up in Belmont MI (near Rockford & Grand Rapids) and have fond memories of going to the Island on holiday with my family. My boyfriend, a native of California, first visited there with me in Sept 1996. He loved it - we stayed at The Grand Hotel and bowled at the duckpin alley at Scotty's Bar. We returned during the fall of 2001 and I am happy to say that our memories of the post 9/11 tragedy were tempered by visting the historic Fort and realizing that Mackinac is was and will always be worth fighting for, due to its natural beauty. It is worth noting that eating fudge to keep up one's strength, goes without saying!

I am so lucky to live only 2 hours from Mackinaw City!! Each year my hubby and I go to the island with our bikes and ride the number of years we have been married. Next week we are going there to ride 38 miles around and thru the island. You can't believe how beautiful the areas are that most visitors don't see. There are trails behind the huge houses, there is even a subdivision for the folks who live year round, funny thing is, they have no garages!! The Island is such a cozy place to tour, we are probably the only ones who DON"T go to the stores to buy stuff or fudge. There is so much to see inland that we just don't take the time to be buying stuff. Try to find the place where Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour stood for the movie "Somewhere in Time", there is a sign that will tell you. Go visit the horses as they rest and have a meal---take your time walking behind the houses to see how unique they are. One week from today, I'll be there.

Will be returning to Mackinac during my "color run" this year. I look forward to this trip all year long and love it when I'm here. Hope to see all my friends at the "Chip" too.
