To Laura T, i've stayed on the island many times and after reviewing all of the rates i'd suggest the Murray hotel it has the lowest rates. Even cheaper than the Bed and Breakfasts, they seem to be the same price as the hotels if not more. So try the murray its a nice place with nice people. The pool there is small but nice. Great place to stay

Having spent many vacations, 9 to be exact, on the island, I feel there is no better place in the world to "get away from it all." Although I have not returned to the island for the past 5-6 years, it continues to be a goal of mine to return to the beaty and relaxation of that "other time." I was always amazed how much the island changed from year to year, between vacations and I can only begin to imagine how much things have changed in the past years. I look forward to my return and I hope that some of my most loved memoeries will be renewed. I tell everyone that will listen, that Mackinac is "A Beautiful Place, Somewhere In Time." Until we meet again...Love to the Island. Wendy

To Laura T. Take him to the fort, rent a tandem bike and ride around the island along the shoreline, go to Arch Rock, stop in at some of the Pubs. Gosh there is so much to do. Trust me you will love it.

I was raised in Michigan and worked on the island 1981-1984 and I still miss it often. The island has changed in many ways. ( I last visited there in 2000 with my triplets--they fell in love with it instantly) Mackinac still maintains its special charm and magical feel, however. My parents and siblings still travel there annually and give me updates! As we travel and move, we talk to people everywhere about the island and how much we would recommend a visit there. We currently live in the Bavarian Alps in Germany, and we are sharing the special memories of Mackinac! I hope to return for a visit again soon! To the Andress family--hello from the Elliotts!

I worked at Mission Point Resort the summer of 2001 and absolutley loved it. Met my boyfriend there and so many close friends from all over the world. We are planning a reunion in Dublin during August, can't wait. Mackinac holds so many wonderful memories for me, it's the most magical place I have ever been and I can't wait to go back someday.

Laura T: If at all possible I recommend staying on the island. Check out the accomodations link and get the best price. Like Julie said - B&B's may have best rates. It's really hard to experience the entire island on a day visit. Be sure and bike around the island. We prefer St. Ignace over Mackinaw City. Check out B&B Boardwalk Inn & Budget Host Inn. I highly recommend Main Street Inn & Suites - if not now, maybe another time. The balcony views are wonderful!

To: Laura T, There are so many nice places to stay on the Island. You cannot go wrong on any of them. If you are not wanting to spend a lot of money, a bed and breakfast would probably be your best bet. My favorite place is the Lakeview. check out thier web site to see if they have any rooms opened. If you want to stay in the city I highly recomend the Grandview Resorts. Just follow the link on this page in the left hand corner to "area links" then click on mackinaw city, then go to accommodations scrool down to Grandview Resorts. It is such a great little place. I have stayed all over in Mackinaw City and have found this place to be the best for you money. I also recommend eating at the Admerial's Table. Great prices and really good food. Let me know how your stay is. Have fun.

My fiancee and I will be traveling to the island the 2nd week in August. I have not yet made hotel reservations and was wondering if anyone could recommend one (or more :)!!. I really cannot afford to spend too much but want to have a memorable time. I was told to maybe stay in Mackinaw City and then just take the ferry over for the day. I havent been there in for over 10 years and this will be fiancee's first time. Any input on definite sights to see and things to do would be greatly appreciated!! I fell almost overwhelmed by this website!! Really Great!!
