My husband and I were married last year on the Island at The Metivier Inn. Beautiful Place! We came again this year for the Lilac Festival to celebrate our anniversary. We will come every year from now on. We love it so much! It is so relaxing! It is sooo worth the 10 hour drive for us! We only wish it were closer, we would buy a summer home there for sure! For those who haven't come to stay on the Island, you MUST!

My husband and I found out about Mackinaw Island on Dirty Jobs as well. We fell in love with the place just in that short segment. We can't wait to get there!

Beth, It is Mackinac Island with an AC on the end but it is pronouned like Mackinaw. The City on the mainland is called Mackinaw City with the AW. It is confusing but there is historical reasons behind the two different spellings with the same pronounciation. The whole Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City and St Ignace area are all wonderfull for their own reasons!

I saw your island for the first time on Mike Rowes show Dirty Jobs. I am in love with it!!! Question? I have heard the name Mackanaw Island as well as Macanic, is this the same place? or is my info just mixed up?

Josh & Erin are enjoying an anniversary at the island this weekend while we keep their children. After their call home & viewing the web site, we're ready to come up.

My husband, Mike, and I brought our granddaughter, Kyra to the island on August 12, 2007. I have been there a couple of times, but this time seemed so magical. The weather was beautiful, and the whole trip seems like a dream. We will be visiting again soon, but this time I plan to stay at least one night on the island. My granddaughter's teacher's mom is city clerk there, but we didn't get to meet her. Thanks so much for such a glorious trip. Mike and Judy Lueer & Kyra Colvin.

I visited The Island in August for the first time. It was beautiful! I loved all the old houses and Trails. I brought my bike and rode around all day. I really want to come back as soon as I can.
