I Love That Smell!!

To San Francisco: I believe the word is manure, not maneur. I am also pretty sure that your suggestion of catching the manure before it hits the street is quite impossible! They do not make diapers for animals of that size. I for one being a lifetime resident of Michigan have stayed on the island many times, and the "horse and buggy" thing as you put it is the single most popular draw to visitors. I mean if one does not like the smell of roses, one should stay away from the flower shop.

Your not a true Mackinac Island lover if you dont love the smell of horse pooh! It has to smell ten time better than San Francisco. So, in that, I think the City does a great job taking care of the Island. We come back every year and stay longer each time we come back. And believe it or not we look forward to the aroma of horse pooh and fudge cooking. It's the smell of Mackinac that captures your heart and brings back memories of great visits as you step of the Star Line ferry. You just smile and say We're back for another grat visit on MAckinac Island!

Have never stayed overnight on the island during the last 15 years. Finally, next June we will be doing just that. I can't wait. It is such a great place.

theres something you take home from the island that makes you want to return each year. the love, the memories and the history of the island are fresh in my mind from when i was a resident, "somewhere in time"! the passion i have for the island, fills my heart, my body and soul.
