FOR RAE AND DOUG FROM CHICAGO. YOU SAY THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO EXPERIENCE THE ISLAND IN THE WINTER. WE HAVE BEEN COMING TO THE ISLAND IN THE WINTER FOR 3 YEARS AND HAVE OUR RESERVATION FOR 2008. WINTER ON THE ISLAND IS ABSOLUTELY A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. YOU JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE ON THE SAME ISLAND AS IN THE SUMMER. WE HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THE PONTIAC LODGE BUT THERE'S ALSO ROOMS AT STONECLIFF. THERE ARE ONLY A FEW RESTAURANTS OPEN BUT THE FOOD IS GREAT / PIZZA IS FANTASTIC AT THE "VI". IF THE BOATS ARE RUNNING YOU CAN TAKE THEM OVER BUT WE'VE FLOWN EVERY YEAR FROM THE AIRPORT AT ST IGNACE. HOPE YOU GET A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY AND TRANQUILITY OF THE ISLAND LIKE WE HAVE.

I was just on a tour of the very Beautiful Mackinac Island. I loved it!!!! I was bumbed that I had to miss the carriage tour, as I was sick in your medical center. I had the summer resident and she was great, she got me back on my feet and enjoying the rest of the trip with the fourth graders from the Olivet middle school feild trip!! I will be bringing my family up on the off season in the beggining of June2008!!!

My husband and I grew up in Michigan. We have always loved Mackinac Island - wonderful mememories. Since moving to Chicago (many years now) we have made it up once each summer and most recently twice each summer! We are very interested in experiencing winter on the island and hope to do so early 2008. Any tips on a winter visit would be much appreciated!

Drempt that I was back on the island working at the Iquois hotel hanging out with Trisha and Dreck Fleasher! OH my those were the days even riding the dray with Charlie and walking the town with the Baznaw brothers! Maybe someday I'll get back there and who knows maybe Dan the fudge man still works there!!!

We also found out about Mackinac Island from watching Dirty Jobs and fell in love w/ the island. I'm interested in moving there, but I really don't know if the locals there are open to "new" people?? And if they would be open to my husband since he has tattoo's (mostly on both arms-full sleeves)?? We live on a little rock right now, but a smaller rock would be a wonderful thing. Could someone help me w/ my questions?? Thanks!

My husband and I are from Michigan and recently got married at The Inn at Stonecliffe. It was absolutely wonderful. The staff was great and everyone on the island was very helpful including Weber's Floral, Belle e Dolce and of course The Inn at Stonecliffe. I would recommend to all who visit the island to head up to Stonecliffe it is worth the time. The only place I would not recommend for accomodations is Lake Bluff Condos. Very bad experience from phone conversation to make reservations, through our wedding night stay at the condo.

My huband and I took our two sons to the island for the first time in June. It was so wonderful. We are planning to go back in the spring, only the two of us this time, for our Honeymoon that we never had. So excited about going back.
